Neither Albany County Executive Democratic Candidate Supports County Legislature Charter Change

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy and Democratic primary challenger Dan Egan agree on one thing. They do not support the November ballot question to pass  the county charter  change  drafted by the Legislature to create a new redistricting procedure  because it lacks independence.

According to today’s Times Union article by Jordan Carleo-Evangelist, “McCoy declined to sign the legislation, thereby allowing it to land on the ballot without his explicit endorsement and leaving it up to voters. This week, he said it would “be great” if voters rejected the proposed changes to force the Legislature to revisit the issue.”
