Thousands Of Voters Changed Parties Too Late To Vote In Presidential Primary On April 19

New York’s closed party primaries and registration dates set by state law will not permit thousands of voters who switched party registration to vote in the April 19 primary. Newly voters, however, will be able to vote in their party primary if they registered before deadlines set by law.

Rick Brand reports in Newsday on this development: “nearly 15,000 Long Island voters who changed parties since late last year because they want to “feel the Bern,” back “The Donald” or help make or break Hillary Clinton are likely to be sorely disappointed if they try to vote in the April 19 presidential primary.”
