State Senator: de Blasio Donations A ‘Statewide Corruption Scandal’

In the Journal News, Mark Lungariello reports  “State Sen. Terrence Murphy, a Yorktown Republican who won a seat against an opponent who benefited from the influx of city money, said that the mayor should take a leave of absence while investigations by federal and state prosecutors take place.

“This is clearly a statewide corruption scandal engineered by the mayor of New York City,” Murphy said.

The senator is now proposing a law to increase the felony penalty for those bypassing the contribution limit so that those convicted would face up to seven years in prison for each charge.”
