James Coll: Unions and the Constitutional Convention

ChangeNYS.org’s James Coll has authored a column appearing in City & State focusing on union opposition to a constitutional convention. Most unions have opposed constitutional conventions in the past and several have already voice opposition to the 2017 ballot question, fearful of any change to pension rights.  Coll argues:

“to avoid appearing like obstructionists standing in the way of the changes so many New Yorkers are calling for now and will still be calling for by next November, unions should abandon their “Convention: No” stance and adopt “Convention: No. Reform: Yes” as their mantra. ”
