Constitutional Convention Supporters Go All ‘Hamilton’ With Music Video

Matthew Hamilton reports in the Times Union that “Forward March NY, a group formed out of the Women’s March movement, has released a new music video boosting the upcoming con-con vote to the tune of “My Shot” from the musical “Hamilton.”

On a technical note, the last constitutional convention was not comprised of all white males as the video informs.

The music video is very entertaining and worth watching. However, it incorrectly states “only white dudes” were at the 1938 convention. Among the 168 delegates elected were Congresswoman Carolyn O’Day, elected at-large, and T. B. Dyett, who was African-American, elected from the Senate district that included Harlem. I do not have a complete list of the delegates, so there may have been others.

Nevertheless, it is fair to say that almost all of the delegates to the 1938 convention were white dudes.
